We aim to help at-risk youth and sex/human trafficking victims turn their negative or troubled past into a positive future by providing a way to speak their truth, heal from traumas, and grow. We want to inspire a nation by building self-determination and resilience. We are providing a voice for the voiceless and at risk.

Our goal is to inspire and create foundations to help with grants, tuitions, and scholarships for the
“emPOWERment” of people looking to experience PEACE in their life, OVERCOME their past, WIN the war they are currently facing, have the ENCOURAGEMENT to continue, while they learn to RESPECT the new journey. Those who believe they could not afford to, those who think they are not worthy enough, those who want to RISE as overcomers, and those that want to make the world a little better one step at a time. We will provide the opportunity for them to experience “emPOWERment.”
We vow to maintain our integrity with how we service at-risk youth and survivors and provide exceptional help in the restoration of their lives and future goals. Your present situation does not have to be your future destination. We want to encourage and inspire those coming and those already struggling to walk in their purpose and feel good about it.
F. Scott Fitzgerald, More Than Just A House
Odessa (Dess) Perkins is a native of California. She is an author, advocate, business owner, counselor, educator, speaker, but most importantly she is a HUMAN TRAFFICKING SURVIVOR. She currently holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Child Development, a Master’s in Business, a Master’s in Educational Counseling with a PPS Credential, and a Teaching Credential. She is a published author of three books: Warrior, I AM (a-z) Affirmations For Kids, and I AM (a-z) Affirmations Coloring Book. Dess started her own business where she housed individuals from Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. In 2018, Dess became a teacher and Intervention counselor. She has worked with at-risk youth and students from elementary all the way to high school.
Dess is currently administering trainings on various topics that are not limited to: domestic violence and human/sex trafficking to police/emergency responders, health workers, district attorneys, teachers, students and girls conference, Bakersfield Rotary, State senators, and the California State Capitol.
Dess started “emPOWERment” in 2022, because she wanted to be the change that at-risk youth and survivors see. Before becoming a survivor and while in the mist of her tests and trials, Dess did not believe there was a way out nor did she think there were people out there to help her. Like many victims, she thought the world was against her and all it saw was a horrible person that was not worthy of helping or saving. "I AM, WE ARE worthy and that is why I created emPOWERment. I am here to help others and be the change I once needed."
Dess is currently working with Senator Shannon Grove and the Kern County District Attorney's Office on legislation (SB 14 formally known as SB-1042)* to make Human Trafficking a violent and serious felony in the state of California. https://grove.cssrc.us/sb14
I am a survivor and I will continue to fight for justice for the people who have been affected by human trafficking.
